Hello!

Welcome to Fort Riley Elementary from your First Grade Team! During the course of the year, our first grade students will learn a lot. In reading, students are focused on learning to read, knowing each sound correspondence in the English language, and becoming fluent readers. They are leveled based on skill and will receive instruction at their level each day. In math, we focus on number sense and being able to solve math problems with many different strategies. Students will be introduced to place value within 120 to build a strong understanding. Students will also participate in hands on investigations to learn about sounds, light, air, weather, plants, and animals. Our goal for first graders is for them to be prepared and ready to flourish in 2^nd Grade and beyond! We will also learn about many different social skills.
