Kansas Kids Fitness Day was on Friday, April 27, 2018 and was hosted by the 12th Street Community Center. All USD 475 3rd graders participated in the eventful day filled with healthy fitness activities. Students participated in various stations that motivated healthy heart activity and exercised coordination. There was an outdoor activity where students were able to play soccer inside inflatable tubes, bamboo jumping, and an obstacle course. The local fire department also participated by hosting a station where kids practiced a fire escape drill.
Students also recieved a special treat by motivational fitness speakers, Rapping Roy and Reggie Regg the Magic Man, who performed Healthy Hip Hop presents, “Music, Movement, and a Message”.
“Kansas Kids Fitness and Safety Day is a statewide event held every year on the first Friday in May. This event focuses on increasing physical activity and safety awareness among 3rd grade students in Kansas. Nearly 18,000 students participate each year at more than 40 sites across the state.” -Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
